Durov has been released on bail of €5 million. He is under investigation and cannot leave France. The list of charges includes:
Complicity in administering an online platform used for illegal transactions (punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a €500,000 fine).
Refusal to provide information or documents requested by authorized bodies necessary for lawful surveillance.
“Providing programs” for DDoS attacks, distribution of child pornography, group fraud, and illegal arms trafficking.
“Providing cryptographic services” that do not ensure authentication functions.
Pavel has been released to reflect on his actions and to reconsider what he’s giving up while staying in a luxury hotel.
